Our Story

Why we built Kaos CrossFit in Halifax.

In 2019, Shawn experienced a serious heart incident. Combined with years of accumulated injuries from a 22-year career in the Canadian Armed Forces, the message was clear: things had to change. Natalie, his wife, had been training for years. In 2021 she encouraged Shawn to try CrossFit. The first class hurt. The second hurt less. By month three, the heart was stronger, the injuries were fading, and a future that had looked uncertain started to look possible again.

That experience became the mission. After Shawn retired from the Canadian Armed Forces, he and Natalie founded Kaos CrossFit in Bayers Lake to give the same transformation to other Halifax residents. We believe CrossFit is for everyone, regardless of age, fitness level, or starting point. Every class is scaled. Every coach is certified. Every member matters.

Today Kaos coaches 15 strong, runs CrossFit, HYROX, Olympic Weightlifting, Open Gym, and Personal Training, and serves athletes from across the Halifax Regional Municipality and all of Nova Scotia.

Our Mission Help Halifax athletes reclaim their health, build lasting strength, and feel at home in a real community.
